WFF TEENAGE
Although the sole competitor in the teenage class, Myles Fauser did not disappoint! The crowd and the judges alike were delighted by his quality. Myles is very tall yet has perfectly proportioned development, particularly for his age. He posed with dignity and a maturity beyond his years and will be an exciting competitor to watch in the future. With his structure and foundation, as Myles matures he has everything in place to become a formidable Class 1 bodybuilder in a few years. In addition to winning the Teenage division, Myles was also awarded the trophy for Most Potential.
WFF ATHLETIC MEN OVER 35
As the two competitors in the WFF Men over 35 filed on stage, it appeared we were seeing double! Martin Trott and long time competitor, Warwick Williams looked like twins at first glance! Both men came in very lean and posed exceptionally well. Martin’s symmetry and slightly fuller upper body got him over the line, with Warwick a close second. It was good to see Warwick less depleted this year. The extra fullness suits his physique and he managed to maintain his trademark ripped condition.
WFF ATHLETC MEN CLASS 2
Two impressive physiques contested the WFF Athletic Class 2 division and the judges had a tough time separating them. Adam Barboza was the eventual winner over Gerard Mignone. Adams condition and development had him just outscore Gerard, who was also in great shape and posed beautifully. Having a narrow clavicle, Gerard just needs to work on broadening his deltoids to enhance his symmetry. With a little more size, particularly on his quads and claves, Adam will make an easy transition into the NABBA ranks.
NABBA NOVICE
Having competed in the WFF Novice last year, Shayne Budgen stepped up to contest the NABBA division this year. Shayne has a great degree of muscle maturity and good size—testament to years of training and his condition was sharp. The only thing that lets Shayne down is an apparent imbalance through his shoulder girdle and traps which gives the impression that he may be nursing an injury, but should be able to be overcome by greater attention to his posing and presentation. If Shayne is able to display more symmetry I am sure he will do very well in future contests. Shayne was runner up this time. First time competitor Benjamin Barge was the NABBA Novice winner, with great conditioning and muscle separation and balanced development. In future contests, I would like to see Benjamin gain more overall size for the NABBA classes or perhaps to contest the WFF Open class. Refining and polishing his posing will complete his package.
NABBA FIGURE CLASS 1 AND 2
The ladies were next, with Stephanie Foreman the NABBA class 2 winner and Kerry Griffin winner of class 1. Both girls posed with elegance and grace and both had lovely upper body development. For both ladies, midsections and legs need to be much harder and tighter to bring the required balance to their figures.
NABBA MENS OPEN CLASS 1 AND 3
The ’big boys’ were well worth the wait to see, with two amazing bodybuilders treating the crowd to an awesome display of muscle! Last years champion, Jason Bednarz and class 3 winner, had added quite a lot of thickness and size to his frame and showed his trademark vascularity in his vein-popping most muscular poses, which the crowd loved. Jason never disappoints in his presentation, but just appeared to be holding some fluid. By the time the Nationals come around, we should see Jason peaking at his absolute best. Tony Griffin was class 1 winner and was in his best ever shape. Tony was hard and dry and had gained more width in his back and shoulders, which together with a tight midsection, improved his symmetry substantially. Tony’s legs were a highlight, particularly his razor sharp hamstrings and the hint of cross striations in the vicinity of the glutes. Tony has obviously paid his dues at the squat rack! Tony was also awarded the Most Muscular trophy.
OVERALL TITLES
WFF WOMEN: Vicki Sauerwald added another overall trophy to her cabinet with her greater development getting her across the line from Michelle Kittel. It would be great to see Vicki eventually move into NABBA figure.

WFF MEN: The greater symmetry and development of Martin Trott saw him take the honours from Adam Barboza.
NABBA WOMEN Evergreen Janelle McLean was declared the winner over Kerry Griffin and Stephanie Foreman. With her amazing symmetry and tight, well proportioned package, Janelle was able to take the honours over two more muscular ladies. Being such a petite build, however, I would like to see Janelle contest the WFF class nationally. She has ‘champion’ written all over her.
NABBA MEN: The battle of the giants was next with five outstanding bodybuilders posing down for the 2009 NABBA Mens overall title. The crowd were on the edge of their seats as Benjamin Barge, John Phillips, Graham Reekie, Tony Griffin and Jason Bednarz flexed their way through the compulsories and an exciting pose down. Tony Griffin, with his dry condition and symmetry was the eventual winner over the amazing Jason Bednarz.
